Bill Alfond Field

Bill Alfond Field opened in August 2017, and it serves as the venue for the field hockey and women's lacrosse teams during home contests.  It is situated at the northeast corner of campus between Serdjenian Field (soccer) and the Baseball and Softball Complex.

The synthetic turf surface offers the Colby Mules the opportunity to accommodate early spring games, as well as competition during inclement weather. Other varsity programs, as well as club and intramural programs, are also able to benefit from the year-round access to Bill Alfond Field. Additional features include lights for night games and practices, an LED scoreboard, stadium seating built into the surrounding berm, and a new press box.

Mark R. Serdjenian Field

Named in 2020 for a beloved former head coach, the Mark R. Serdjenian Field opened for play in the fall of 2017 for the men's and women's soccer teams.  It was dedicated on October 2, 2021 in front of the generous donors who banded together to honor Coach Serdjenian. The original venue, Loebs Field, was located where the new Harold Alfond Athletics and Recreation Center now stands. The game field is complete with stadium seating and natural berms for additional game-viewing locations, as well as shelters and a state-of-the-art 16-foot wireless LED scoreboard.

Mark R. Serdjenian Field is strategically positioned to complement the adjacent Bill Alfond Field, the Baseball and Softball Complex, neighboring Harold Alfond Stadium, and the new Harold Alfond Athletics and Recreation Center.

“Our training grounds are some of the best grass fields in the country. They allow for a consistent training environment for the student-athletes, which is a huge factor in our individual and team development. The full-size field with perfect grass allows our program to play our brand of soccer at the highest level. Our stadium, the Mark R. Serdjenian Field, makes for an incredible student-athlete and fan experience. The stadium seating with the hillsides allow fans to be up-close to the action, adding a home field advantage to the event.”

-Kristin Shaw, Head Women's Soccer Coach

Harold Alfond Athletics and Recreation Center

Culture and character aren't just written in handbooks: they live in people.  Over the years, daring men and women wearing Colby blue became pioneers, and coaches turned winning seasons Harold Alfond Athletics and Recreation Centerinto legacies.  Teamwork, leadership, humility, resilience, and grit would come to define our spirit, and that spirit followed us to a new home in the fall of 2020 when the Harold Alfond Athletics and Recreation Center opened its doors.

Here, floor-to-ceiling windows let the light flood in, beckoning.  At 350,000 square feet, this place is unlike anything that's come before.  It continues our commitment to the environment andconservation, and the same spirit of place and sport is here.  An all-season 200-meeter track will host the highest levels of competition.  Maine's only Olympic-sized swimming pool welcomes not only college, but high school swimmers to perform their best.  The best ice in the northeast has new walls.  We've laid our hardwood and we're ready to compete.

Our athletes will have access to the best trainers and coaches, and a fitness center the size of two football fields combined.  Buzzer beaters and broken records will add to our storied history. Athletes don't just join a team at Colby, they join a tradition.  It's a tradition that trains them to be leaders, to meet the greatest challenges head-on.  To Dare Northward.  To give back.  We will grow that legacy.  Welcome home.
